Welcome to Our Family for His Glory! I’m so glad you are here. Pull up a chair and stay a while. :)

I’m Jessica, and I pray that this will be a place where you can find encouragement and inspiration and lots of grace as we seek to lead little hearts and families to the throne of God. Here you will see a real mommy, wife, homemaker, friend, woman (that’s me!) that is in this grace-filled messy life right along with you… where pony-tails, crumb-covered floors, mountains of laundry, sleepless nights, and selfish hearts abound. Yet, where forgiveness, mercy, joy, and faith are found when we point our eyes to Christ.

our family

If there is just one thing I want you to know, when you come here to this space, it is that I love God, and want HIM to be glorified! He is my Savior, my Redeemer, my Life. This may seem a bit wishy-washy to you, and you may even stop reading right about now, but it is my heart. My prayer is that everything you find here will point you and your family to Him! Every word written, every story shared, every idea poured out, and every drop of encouragement is by HIS grace and for HIS glory!

This does not mean that I am perfect. And please don’t let the sweet smiles on my children’s faces fool you. :) In the every day moments and the uncertainties of raising little ones for the glory of God, we squabble and fumble and often make a mess of things. My words get jumbled, and I am continually having to relearn what it means to die-to-self. Yet, if you stay around here long enough, I pray you’ll see that tears and grace, joy and pain are intermingled. For there is hope as we walk together through this life that is just-plain-hard.

That’s why I love being here, writing and sharing my heart and my life and my family with you. For as we walk through the trenches together, the load is lighter and the path is easier. We need each other, so I hope you’ll stay around.

A little over twelve years ago, I married my best friend. He was a PK (pastor’s kids) turned pastor. He lives and breathes to teach and preach God and His Word. I am so blessed. When he enters the room, my heart still beats faster, and seeing him love on our children melts my heart every-single-time.

We have six precious children… all ages ten and under! Our oldest are twin girls, and our littlest baby girl turns four in June {sniff!}. Boy to girl ratio!? Five girls & just one handsome rough-and-tumble seven-year-old boy! Each of them holds a dear place in my heart.

Up until I went on bed-rest with our twins (over ten years ago now), I worked as a preschool teacher, happily using my degree in early childhood and elementary education. Now, I am blessed to stay home and homeschool. This makes for full, busy, and fun days.

I truly can’t imagine life without these seven most precious people. Much of what God is teaching me, I learn through them.

You will find a glimpse into our home and into my heart, as we seek to find the glorious amidst the mundane. As I seek God and dive into His Word, I am continually learning and growing. Sometimes it is raw and often it is not pretty, but as God works in me, I pray He will work in you as well.

I enjoy writing about family, faith, homeschooling, marriage, motherhood, home-making, and life in general, and I like to share about what works for our family (phew- that’s a long list), but mostly I am passionate about GOD and leading little (& big) hearts to Him! I love sharing what God is teaching me, and I love finding ways to impress God’s Word on the hearts of our children.

I try to post two to three times a week, but know that sometimes the computer needs to rest, and the messages, likes, comments, and posts need to be set aside for a bit, so that I can put first things first. Sometimes balancing it all is tricky, but if I don’t spend time with my God, I would have nothing to offer you or my family. I hope you can respect that as much as I love each of you, right now, my family is my first ministry. :)

As you spend time here, I pray you will find hope & encouragement and that you will be blessed!

Jess and Gabe

I met my husband during college through his sister (and my dear friend) when she brought me to her home over Thanksgiving break. Our first conversation? It was about the stinky smell in the bathroom. :)

After that weekend, my now husband redeemed himself by telling his best friend that he wanted to marry someone just like me someday.

I always wanted to be a mommy growing up, but having six kids was never on my radar- three or four, maybe, but six I never dreamed of.

I don’t drink coffee; I honestly just don’t like it. {Gasp!} Although I do like to get up before my family, and my husband loves coffee (I’m not sure how that works out.)

I don’t like to shop either. {Another Gasp!} Though trips to Target have made for some great dates.

I do really like to read- especially one of my worn-torn Bibles.

And I love, love, love music that glorifies God.

I am a bit of a homebody. Although I most certainly enjoy visiting others- I would rather have people come visit my crazy house, than pack up all my little people to head somewhere else. This is getting easier as the older ones can now sufficiently get themselves ready, and are excellent helpers… but, I still like to be at home (maybe this is part of the reason why blogging from home and homeschooling work so well for us).

If you know me in real life, you may notice that I like to listen more than talk. I like to soak everything in, and then contribute to the conversation only if I feel like I have something worth saying (although I still put my foot in my mouth at times). This site is a place where I share my heart, but still love to “listen” to my readers.

I would also consider myself an introvert. This causes a bit of a dilemma with six little ones and an awesome husband vying for my attention most of the day, and is probably also the cause for my “retreats to the bathroom.” But, it also brings me to my knees time and time again.

I am quite computer/technologically illiterate. I know, I know, I have a blog. :) I’m learning… slowly, but my head starts swimming with all the computer jargon, and if something goes wrong- I’m clueless. (So, if ever you notice something that just isn’t right, I won’t be offended in the least if you send a sweet email my way. Of course, if you know how to fix it- that would be even better.)

I’ve lived in the North-Central United States for pretty much all of my life… and can only imagine a place where we could wear sandals all-year-long.

I don’t function well on little sleep. I either get really grumpy, or start laughing about absolutely everything. :)

My form of exercise consists of trying to keep up with my ever growing little ones. Dancing and chasing and mopping and scrubbing all with a preschooler in tow.

Still want to know more???  Keep peeking around, or send an email my way! :)
