Treasured Moments {Memorizing Psalm 145- Week 4}

Those long ago evenings before he got down on his knee and slipped that diamond on my finger, we sat shoulder to shoulder as I fumbled through the words I so desperately needed.

Just a few weeks ago he would tell me that those were some of the moments he loved best.

Out of all the God-ordained points in time, He treasured the minutes turned hours where he sat with Bible in lap and helped me engrave four verses from Psalm sixty-two into my heart.

Little did I know that those verses memorized for a college singing group would have such an impact on my future husband.

They’d be the same verses I would cling to at my father’s grave.

Those life-breathing Words were all I had to hang onto.

In My Heart

So today I slipped into bed, heart pounding, and asked if he would listen to me recite Psalm 145.

Why I was shaking inside- I’m not sure. {I’ve been speaking them to myself, singing them out loud, and repeating them over and over to our kids… but to the man I love, I became timid.}

Maybe because he, out everyone else, knows me. The raw places of my life. The dirty and the ugly.

He knows how much I fall short of God’s Words. He knows how intensely I need them.

But, I know he needs them too.

And I’m ready to make more treasured moments with him.

As Psalm 145 comes sweetly off my lips- it’s as if God’s painting a picture of His Word in our lives, in our marriage, in our home.

Would you join me in Memorizing Psalm 145!? (It’s never too late to join in!) I love, love, love this week’s verses… telling of the character of God! If you had some trouble last week (I know those were some tough ones), don’t be discouraged. Take some extra time this week to breathe in His Words- see if you can find someone to help you. (Remember, if it’s important to us, we’ll make time- if not, we just make excuses.) I think you’ll find this week’s verses will flow a little bit easier. (They’re some of my favorites!)

Week 4… Psalm 145:8-9

8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
9 The Lord is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
-Psalm 145:8-9

How is memorizing God’s Word coming for you???

Do you have someone you can share His Words with???

  1. Here’s the link to the Vineyard song “The Lord is Gracious and Compassionate” — it has the memory verse for this week in it!

  2. I’ve been away from your blog for a little while, but am happy to have come back by! I am always trying to commit more of God’s word to memory, and it is very slow-going for me. I hold tightly to the little bit that I manage to remember! The girls and I have been listening to the Seeds of Courage CD a lot lately, and I find the words to those verses running through my mind throughout the day. For me, learning the verses set to music is the very best way to learn them, remember them, and meditate on them through the day. Thank you for these beautiful verses to consider tonight!

    • So fun to hear from you, Andria! We LOVE Seeds Family Worship here & the Seeds of Courage CD is probably our favorite. :) Music is the best way for me too!!
      Have a great day!

  3. I’m working on 7&8 this week, so I’m just a little behind you. I am the same way about reciting the verses to my husband. Thank you for sharing!
