Teaching Our Kids the Awe of God

Stick out your tongue.

Can you catch a snowflake?

Just one.

catching snowflakes

That one tiny snowflake-

Made from up to two-hundred separate snow crystals

Formed around a speck of dust.

Dust.

The snow crystals fell

Clumping together to form that one small snowflake.

Kayla and mommy

Can you catch another and another and another and another?

Let’s count them all!

Too many.

God formed and knows each one.

Look how beautiful.

Kayla and bell

Scoop up some snow.

Can you make a snowball?

It fits in your hand.

God holds you in His hand.
“E
ven there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” –Psalm 139:10

Kayla's snowball

The vast universe is tiny to God.

If our galaxy was the size of North America,

Our solar system would be a snowball,

The earth just one tiny snow crystal that joined together to make one tiny snowflake.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” –Psalm 8:3-4

Bella's snowball

Our God is so great!

Beyond our comprehension-

Yet He cares for You and me.

The speck of dust.
“for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” –Psalm 103:14

Bella and Kayla

It amazes me- the magnificence of God, yet His love for the tiny dust that I am! I want my kids to see this great mystery. So that they fall in awe at His feet.

How can you teach the awe of God today?

What “tiny” things can you find to show of our great big God?

  1. I just love how nature sings of the glory of God! Hoping we can make our way up north for the boys to discover the beauty of snow and marvel at our Creator God!

    • It’s amazing to me- God’s awesome creation- no matter the climate. :)

  4. So thought provoking! I need to remember to turn it all back to Him when I see my children excited and in awe.

    • Thanks, Gabrielle! I also need to remember to let them stand in awe of Him and His works, instead of rushing them along to the next thing. ;0
      Have a blessed day!
