Diving Into Philippians- Week 6

God has been working in my heart during this Bible Study in a stretching, humbling, convicting, amazing, painful, yet very good way. (I pray He’s been working in yours as well!) And, honestly, there are some days that I just don’t want to read more, or study more, or dive deeper- for I know, I know, I know there is much more work that needs to be done in my life. For although He has already saved me, He is not finished working in me yet. And He’s not finished with you either! One of my very favorite Bible verses is found in this week’s Bible Study, and is such a blessed promise that God is working in us- although He may be stretching us like never before- He is working in us, giving us the power and the desire to do what pleases Him! Even if we have to do it alone.

Oh, and you also won’t want to miss the other famously quoted verses around our house (the ones about doing everything WITHOUT complaining or arguing)! I know you’ll be blessed and stretched as we dive into Philippians 2:12-18 this week!

{{If you’re worried because you’re a little (or a lot) behind, please don’t be discouraged! Start where you stopped (even if it’s at the beginning), or just jump right into this week’s study. Just get done as much as you can each day, and then dive in again the next day! Let’s encourage one another!}}

Diving into Philippians- Week 6
Have you noticed that at the end of each day’s study there is a cue to help you memorize a Bible verse(s) for the week!? If you’ve taken this challenge- then this week you will already be memorizing your fifth verse this summer- more than that if you’ve chosen to memorize multiple verses on any given week! :)

The cues are simple, and take little time, yet are extremely helpful in hiding God’s Word in our hearts! Here’s what you can expect…

  • Day 1 Choose a verse(s) and write it on a notecard.
  • Day 2 Read the verse out loud (at least) three times… making hand motions as you go.
  • Day 3 Play a super, simple game with the verse (such as clapping or jumping for each word), or (most often) make the Bible memory verse(s) into a song. You can choose any tune- or make up your own. I recommend humming the melody first, and then adding the words. {This is probably the thing that helps me the most when it comes to Bible memory.}
  • Day 4 Write it {BIG} somewhere noticeablewith dry-erase markers on the bathroom mirror… with window markers on the window… on a giant poster hung in the living room… on a banner in the dining room… on a whiteboard in the kitchen… with sidewalk chalk on the driveway! Say (or sing) the verse as you write it, and again every time you see it that day. See how much you can remember without looking.
  • Day 5 Share it with someone else– over the phone… through email… on Facebook… to your child… right here at Our Family for His Glory (I’d love to hear your verses!)… in a letter… etc.

We’ve had lots of fun memorizing Bible verses at our houseeven with our little toddlers! Hopefully soon I can get some of their cuteness on video.

But, for now… here’s this week’s “Diving Into Philippians” Bible Study!
I’m praying for you as you dive into His Word this week!

    Great tips for memorizing bible verses! I am always looking for ways to help my kids memorize. Have you heard of or looked into the Bible Bee? My kids are doing it for the third year and we like it. (Them not so much but we all know it is good for them so they go along with it.) Thanks again!

  2. Hi! :) Thanks for your encouragement. I have only recently heard of the Bible Bee. It looks like a great program, but haven’t looked into it that much. I’m so glad it’s working for your family. This encourages me to look into it again.
    Hope you have a great week!
